For the masses this is the goal. For me, this is the tragedy of of our times. Have you ever found it difficult to think a certain thought? Recently I heard a radio talk show host talk of things that I didn't want to think... It was too painful.
This made me think a lot about thinking. In my research I found the following quote:
"An educated man is not one who has trained his mind to remember a few dates in history. He is one who can accomplish things. If a man cannot think, he is not an educated man, regardless of how many college degrees he may have attained. Thinking is the hardest work a man can do, which is probably the reason we have so few thinkers.” —Henry Ford
Education is the key to thinking. Not the traditional education the masses received but an education through searching for truths. Throughly reading both sides of an issue and forming your own opinions.
I've found that if the majority of people believe a thing I question the truth of it. Is it false or peppered with falsities is the question I first ask myself. It is disturbing but the status quo is where most of us live and the status quo is being blind to truth.
As you search for the answers you are looking for, take time to think about the outcomes. What is your goal? What do you want to achieve with this knowledge? How will you use this knowledge? Will you share it with others?
Assignment:
To become a better thinker spend time reading about and pondering the questions on your mind. Follow that with conversations with others and writing down your opinions and thoughts on the subject. Form a conclusion, then test it by repeating these steps. Over time, you'll strengthen your ability to think through your thoughts.
Our world need better thinkers... Are you willing to put in the hard work it takes to think?
